I heard that there was decent churrasco in the Daimyo area of Fukuoka, so I decided to check it out. Located just a 3-minute walk from Akasaka Station, ALEGRIA (アレグリア) opened in 2023 on the 2nd floor of Daimyo Garden City. This churrasco chain, which has over 17 locations in Tokyo, chose Daimyo Garden City as its new base in Fukuoka. Despite being the second location in Kyushu, it has already been fully booked on many days. The churrasco is cooked using a special machine imported directly from Brazil, and the churrasqueiro brings the skewers to your table to slice. With 20 types available for all-you-can-eat starting at 4,500 yen, an English menu, and online reservations available, it’s a place I can confidently recommend to inbound FIT travelers.
In this article, I’ll share my experience visiting ALEGRIA Daimyo Garden City, highlighting its charm and tips for visiting.
Churrasco & Beer Restaurant ALEGRIA Daimyo Garden City (Akasaka Station / Tenjin Area)
After exiting Akasaka Station and walking east for 3 minutes, you’ll see the newly opened Daimyo Garden City in 2023. It’s a low-rise glass building that reflects the city’s light during the day and blends into the illuminated alleys of Daimyo at night. On the 2nd floor is ALEGRIA (アレグリア). You can access it directly via an outdoor staircase instead of an elevator, which is a thoughtful design for travelers with a lot of luggage. Upon entering, you’ll see the rotisserie machine quietly spinning. The aroma instantly informs your body of what tonight’s meal will be.
The Restaurant’s Charm
The churrasco chain “ALEGRIA,” with over 17 locations in Tokyo, has chosen this Daimyo Garden City location as its base in Fukuoka. Using a specially imported rotisserie machine from Brazil, the churrasqueiro (the professional who handles churrasco) evenly cooks the meat and slices it right in front of you at your table. Over 20 cuts and menu items — including beef picanha (rump), ichibo, frango (chicken thigh), linguica (Portuguese sausage), garlic rice, and grilled vegetables — are served continuously to your table for 120 minutes.
With 56 seats, the restaurant can accommodate private parties for groups and special occasions (for details, please consult the restaurant). They also offer birthday and anniversary plates, making it easy to cater to inbound couples and small groups. The English menu is fully prepared, so you can enjoy your meal without worrying about language barriers with the staff. The drink menu, featuring four types of draft beer and over 100 cocktails, adds to the excitement of your travel night.
The price range for dinner is all-you-can-eat starting at 4,500 yen, while lunch all-you-can-eat (15 types) is around 3,300 yen (varies on weekdays and weekends), and weekday lunch plates start at 900 yen. They also accommodate weekend lunches, making it a great option for those who want to have a hearty meal before afternoon sightseeing.

Shiro’s Tip
Compared to the authentic churrasco I had in South America, the picanha here is seasoned lightly to suit Japanese tastes. Personally, I find it pairs best with garlic rice. A strategy for the all-you-can-eat is to “ask for smaller bites at the beginning to conquer the beef options and then slowly enjoy the frango and sausage in the latter half.” The Daimyo area is perfect for a post-meal stroll around the nearby Imaizumi café street, providing just the right distance for an evening walk.
Practical Tips: Access to ALEGRIA from the Tenjin Area and Travel Planning
For travelers staying in Tenjin or Hakata, ALEGRIA is easily accessible. It’s just a one-stop ride from Tenjin Station (Airport Line) to Akasaka, followed by a 3-minute walk, or about a 7-minute walk from Tenjin. From Hakata Station, it takes about 5 minutes by subway to Tenjin Station, and from there, you can reach it in under 20 minutes on foot.
The subway in Fukuoka City accepts major transportation IC cards like Suica, PASMO, and ICOCA. It takes about 11 minutes (around 260 yen) from the airport to Tenjin Station, making it a natural choice for dinner on the day of arrival. There are paid parking facilities around Daimyo Garden City, but public transport is realistically faster.
Travel Prep: eSIM & Transport Passes
Securing a local SIM in advance will make using Google Maps and restaurant reservations smoother. The JR Kyushu Rail Pass can be purchased on Klook and is suitable for exploring Kyushu, extending from Fukuoka to Saga, Nagasaki, and Kumamoto.
Conclusion: Reasons to Eat Churrasco in Fukuoka
The option to eat churrasco in Fukuoka is still not widely recognized among many travelers. Amid the usual ramen, motsunabe, and mentaiko, ALEGRIA Daimyo Garden City is quietly thriving. From my perspective as someone who has traveled in South America, I can confidently say that their churrasco “captures the authentic atmosphere quite well.”
The Daimyo area is slightly removed from the bustling streets of Tenjin, creating a calm atmosphere at night. Enjoying a hearty meal of churrasco and then strolling through the nearby Daimyo shopping street or Imaizumi café street adds depth to your evening in Fukuoka.
